Sepilok

View over lake

Interesting plants

Looked like peacocks tails

We arrived at the Jungle Resort in Sepilok in torrential rain and quickly made our way to our room which had a distinct 50's look (plus plastic flowers and net curtain over the arch). The Wi-Fi and AC were great whereas the 1980's tv was unbelievable. The only information in the room concerned the add-on charges, eg swimming pool, other than that it was all guess work! In need of refreshment, we found the bar /  restaurant via several slippery boardwalks with fantastic scenery. Couldn't get a beer until 3 o'clock when Happy Hour began (two hours later). Finally we found the bar and got someone to open it. Apparently they didn't open it because nobody came - not surprising as no signposts!!! Had we entered a time warp? The décor and furniture was 50's enhanced by ballroom music. On top of that we could only buy spirits or wine by the bottle (very expensive) but Ray got his beer.
In the bar with new friends
There was a monsoon during the night but held off as we traipsed to breakfast along the slippery boardwalks. Breakfast was unbelievable with, we presume the manager, checking that not too much had been cooked! Then the heavens opened and we were stuck there with two other british couples until 12 o clock!! Great chatting though! Sadly we didn't get to see the orang-utangs being fed but caught up on our blogging.
