Rice Paddy Walk 7th Feb

Plantain

Not good for rice
Jerry my guide

Jack fruit!!!
Got to reception at 9am and met by a sweet young man who was to be my guide. I met his father & grandfather who were planting rice which takes 8 months to grow. I was then shown peanuts, sweet potatoes, assorted spinach (nothing like spinach!), plantain and palms.
We then climbed the hill for a splendid view and to see palm fruit being harvested for wine, and  traditional beehives. Wild bees make honeycombs in rolled coconut mat in tree. When ready, the bees are smoked out - not good for their health! - and the hive is lowered for honey (sweet vinegary taste)
On the way we also encountered a naked man with a black cow (no pic!!)  a suckling pig, goat, chickens and cows.
The goat was left behind!!
