Successful Caching

Somewhat difficult persuading driver where to stop - he had his own ideas! However, we found cache inside restaurant behind counter. Couldn't buy a drink as we (Lorina) had spent our cash on a traditional woven tapestry!!!!!!!!!

So onto the next cache where we had to find GPS co-ordinates written on a rock - these were then used to find the final cache (see photo below).

Balinese Traditional Weaving

On our way to cache 2 we discovered a traditional Balinese weaver. Here they grow their own cotton (white and brown) and the plants used to produce the dyes. Once the cotton is picked it is submerged in the dye for at least 5 weeks or more (didn't smell too good!). It is then hung to be dried and then spun.

The whole process to a finished article takes 4 months

Brill day snorkelling

Drove (taxi - no way will I drive around here) to Pedang Bay & took resort's glass-bottom out to the Blue Lagoon for snorkelling over the Pedang reef.

The colours, shapes and sizes of the fish inhabiting the reef were incredible and have to be seen to be believed!

Returned to our beautiful base for a well-earned late lunch and Happy Hour.

Arrived in Bali late yesterday (2/2)

Fairly average flights with Malaysia Airlines although cabin staff could be more pro-active (venture out of galleys and see if any passenger wants anything)!

Straight thru' Bali airport like a dose of salts, met by car as arranged but then spent over an hour going ONE mile thanks to road works or noworksor noworks if you see what I mean.

Arrived at base 3 hours later, checked in, guzzled a few drinks and retreated to bed after some 30 hours travelling from Thursday!

Bus stations

Is it us or are bus station regulars odd? Very strange customers at Fareham awaiting our National Express limo to Heathrow.

Final barriers

Deep joy - finally made it to KL and 6 hour wait for onward flight to Bali. Blog appears to have a mind of it's own!

Overnight stay at Heathrow great apart from saucer-shaped mattress which did me back the world of good!
